The Bolton Project — The completed historic memorial securely refitted
The challenge

Preserving an old memorial while making it safe again

This substantial family memorial had become unstable and could no longer be considered safe. Our masons carefully dismantled and removed it with specialist lifting equipment so the memorial and the ground beneath it could be properly assessed.

A new reinforced concrete foundation was formed and allowed to cure before stainless-steel safety fixings were installed. The original memorial was then carefully rebuilt and securely refitted, preserving its character while giving it the stable base it needed for the years ahead.

01

Safe removal

Specialist lifting equipment allowed the heavy stone sections to be dismantled and moved without placing the memorial or surrounding plots at risk.

02

New foundations

The failed base was replaced with a purpose-made reinforced concrete foundation sized for the complete memorial.

03

Secure refitting

Modern stainless-steel safety fixings were installed before every original section was carefully returned and aligned.
